US export sales for week ending 24/07/03

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 388,900 pieces equaled the previous week, but were 12% below the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 368,000 pieces were primarily for China (116,300 pieces), South Korea (112,900 pieces), and Hong Kong (51,400 pieces).  Exports of 536,800 pieces were up 12 percent from the week earlier and 1% over the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 508,700 pieces were mainly for China (150,600 pieces), South Korea (147,400 pieces), and Hong Kong (78,900 pieces).

Net sales of 71,300 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 18% below the prior week and 21% under the previous 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (32,500 unsplit), Taiwan (11,800 unsplit), and Italy (11,200 unsplit).  Exports of 63,600 hides were up 23% from the previous week, but down 23% from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (20,500 unsplit), Taiwan (13,600 unsplit), and Mexico (6,600 grain split and 5,800 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totaling 1,831,800 pounds were 78% above the previous week and 36% over the 4-week average.  The principal buyers were Hong Kong (850,500 pounds), South Korea (495,000 pounds), and China (390,000 pounds).  Exports of 525,800 pounds were 69% below the prior week and the previous 4-week average.  The destinations were Hong Kong (342,500 pounds), Taiwan (96,300 pounds), South Korea (45,000 pounds), and Mexico (42,000 pounds).
