US export sales for week ending 10/02/2002

Hides and Skins: Net sales of 447,700 pieces were 27% below the prior week and 10 % under the 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 431,300 pieces were primarily for South Korea (168,800 pieces), China (75,900 pieces), and Taiwan (58,400 pieces). Exports of 455,200 pieces were down 30% from the previous week and 15% from the 4-week average. Whole cattle hide shipments of 445,800 pieces were destined mainly for China (128,700 pieces) and South Korea (126,100 pieces).

Net sales of 29,000 wet blues were mainly for South Korea (15,300 grain split) and Mexico (9,500 grain split). Exports of 58,800 hides were 53% below the previous week and 46% below the 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (11,400 grain split and 6,600 unsplit), Italy (11,300 unsplit and 300 grain split), and South Korea (6,000 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 1,000,500 pounds were 31%below the previous week and 34% under the 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (600,000 pounds), Spain (300,000 pounds), and Taiwan (150,000 pounds). Decreases were reported for China (300,000 pounds). Exports of 778,500 pounds were down 46%from the previous week and 26% from the 4-week average. The destinations were South Korea (280,900 pounds), Hong Kong (250,000 pounds), Mexico (147,500 pounds), and China (100,000 pounds).
