US export sales for week ending 12/05/2005

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 364,100 pieces were 24 per cent below the previous week and 33 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 317,200 pieces were mainly for China (117,800 pieces) and South Korea (88,600 pieces). Exports of 460,900 pieces were 12 per cent above the previous week and 5 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 409,100 pieces were mainly for China (177,600 pieces) and South Korea (110,000 pieces).    

Net sales of 130,500 wet blues were 32 per cent above the previous week and 21 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (33,700 unsplit), Hong Kong (20,400 unsplit and 6,900 grain split), Italy (24,700 unsplit), Taiwan (18,300 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (18,000 grain split). Exports of 119,300 hides were 17 per cent below the prior week, but 7 per cent over the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (32,400 unsplit), Hong Kong (23,300 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (18,700 grain split), Taiwan (13,600 unsplit and 3,400 grain split), and China (11,900 unsplit). 

Net sales of splits totalling 327,300 pounds were 38 per cent more than the previous week, but 35 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for China (256,100 pounds) and Hong Kong (79,300 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for Indonesia (8,100 pounds). Exports of 1,218,700 pounds were 13 per cent below the previous week and 44 per cent under the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Hong Kong (718,900 pounds), China (307,900 pounds), and Indonesia (191,900 pounds).
