US export sales for week ending 14/04/2005

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 599,300 pieces were 43 per cent higher than the previous week and 27 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 569,000 pieces were mainly for China (224,900 pieces), South Korea (159,200 pieces), and Taiwan (43,400 pieces). Exports of 448,400 pieces were equal to the previous week and 1 percent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 429,900 pieces were mainly for China (172,000 pieces), South Korea (116,700 pieces), and Taiwan (43,700 pieces).   

Net sales of 172,800 wet blues were two and two-thirds times the previous week and 48 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (65,500 unsplit), Italy (37,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (31,600 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (18,600 grain split).  Exports of 123,800 hides were 25 per cent above the prior week, but 4 pe rcent under the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (32,500 unsplit), Italy (27,600 unsplit and 1,800 grain split), China (17,000 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (16,000 grain split and 900 unsplit), and Mexico (6,800 grain split and 5,700 unsplit). 

Net sales of splits totalling 819,000 pounds were 16 per cent above the previous week, but 51 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The main buyers were China (714,300 pounds) and Hong Kong (70,200 pounds). Exports of 2,535,000 pounds were two and one-tenth times the previous week and 86 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (1,615,800 pounds), Italy (741,400 pounds), and China (177,800 pounds).
