US export sales for week ending 24/03/2005
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 471,900 pieces were 1 per cent below the previous week and 6 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 424,400 pieces were mainly for China (174,300 pieces) and South Korea (101,900 pieces). Exports of 497,900 pieces were 23 per cent above the previous week and 19 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 447,100 pieces were mainly for China (139,000 pieces), South Korea (128,300 pieces), and Taiwan (80,600 pieces).
Net sales of 233,800 wet blues were three and nine-tenths times the previous week and two and one-tenth times the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (167,900 unsplit and 2,200 grain split), Taiwan (19,900 unsplit), Hong Kong (17,200 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (16,900 grain split). Exports of 136,400 hides were 24 per cent below the prior week and 2 per cent under the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (40,500 unsplit), Italy (35,800 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (17,600 grain split), and Taiwan (10,900 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 2,039,600 pounds were 51 per cent above the previous week and 36 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (1,359,500 pounds) and South Korea (500,000 pounds). Exports of 2,081,000 pounds were three and seven-tenths times the previous week and double the prior 4-week average. The main destinations were Italy (715,400 pounds), Hong Kong (712,500 pounds), and South Korea (300,000 pounds).
