The number of cattle slaughtered in 2004 was 2.7% lower than in 2003. Over the
same period sheep slaughterings increased by 12.8%, while pig slaughterings
decreased by 4.8%.
A comparison of December 2004 and 2003 figures shows that:-
Sheep slaughterings increased by 20.3%.-
Pig slaughterings increased by 20.2%.-
Cattle slaughterings increased by 15.5%. See graphEU-15 cattle slaughtering figures remained static between the periods January to
August 2003 and 2004. Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy recorded
increases of 4.7%, 1.2% and 0.6% respectively. France recorded a decrease of
3.3%.
