US export sales for week ending 03/02/2005
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 443,600 pieces were 31 per cent below the previous week. Whole cattle hide sales of 409,300 pieces were primarily for South Korea (129,400 pieces) and China (121,300 pieces). Exports of 479,600 pieces were 21 per cent below the previous week, but 4 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 450,000 pieces were mainly for China (181,300 pieces) and South Korea (122,800 pieces).
Net sales of 77,400 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 45 per cent below the previous week. The primary buyers were Italy (23,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (21,200 unsplit), and China (14,900 unsplit and 1,000 grain split). Exports of 95,100 hides were 14 per cent above the prior week and 32 per cent over the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (31,700 unsplit), Italy (22,200 unsplit), South Korea (11,200 unsplit and 1,500 grain split), and China (10,500 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 1,496,400 pounds were 29 per cent below the previous week. The major buyers were Hong Kong (830,700 pounds) and Italy (575,200 pounds). Exports of 1,248,800 pounds were 51 per cent below the previous week and 31 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (756,700 pounds), China (260,500 pounds), Italy (131,600 pounds), and South Korea (100,000 pounds).
