US export sales for week ending 04/11/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 433,100 pieces were 21 per cent above the previous week, but 1 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 402,300 pieces were primarily for China (159,900 pieces) and South Korea (95,300 pieces).  Exports of 445,400 pieces were up 3 per cent from the previous week and 5 per cent over the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 418,500 pieces were mainly for China (120,500 pieces) and South Korea (103,100 pieces).   

Net sales of 97,700 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were double the prior week and 13 per cent above the previous 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Italy (52,000 unsplit and 1,100 grain split), Hong Kong (23,100 unsplit), and Taiwan (12,900 unsplit).  Exports of 101,200 hides were up 32 per cent from the previous week and 15 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (27,500 unsplit and 4,700 grain split), China (20,300 unsplit), Italy (18,900 unsplit and 1,400 grain split), and Mexico (6,700 unsplit and 3,500 grain split).

 Net sales of splits totalling 1,888,600 pounds were 39 per cent below the previous week, but 24 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (1,651,000 pounds) and China (122,500 pounds).  Exports of 1,854,600 pounds were 78 per cent above the previous week and 86 per cent over the prior 4-week average.  The main destinations were Hong Kong (670,500 pounds), Italy (520,600 pounds), and China (431,200 pounds).
