US export sales for week ending 02/09/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 375,000 pieces were 10 per cent above the previous week, but 11 per cent under the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 376,300 pieces were primarily for China (164,500 pieces) and South Korea (96,600 pieces).  Exports of 410,200 pieces were 6 per cent below the previous week and 12 per cent under the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 401,600 pieces were mainly for China (159,800 pieces) and South Korea (99,100 pieces).   

Net sales of 41,600 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were down 65 per cent from the prior week and 58 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (14,900 unsplit and 4,800 grain split) and Italy (5,400 unsplit).  Exports of 85,000 hides were 23 per cent under the previous week and 36 percent below the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (35,500 unsplit and 5,000 grain split), Mexico (10,700 unsplit and 5,100 grain split), and Taiwan (14,700 unsplit). 

Net sales of splits totalling 2,286,900 pounds were six and two-fifths times the previous week and 93 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The buyers were Hong Kong (1,427,100 pounds), China (471,800 pounds), and Mexico (388,000 pounds). 

Exports of 1,838,600 pounds were 46 per cent above the previous week and 7 per cent over than the prior 4-week average.  The major destinations were Hong Kong (658,000 pounds), China (551,000 pounds), and Mexico (459,800 pounds).
