US export sales for week ending 12/08/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 531,000 pieces were up 58 percent from the previous week and 20 per cent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 514,000 pieces were primarily for China (328,200 pieces) and South Korea (59,600 pieces).  Exports of 453,900 pieces were down 12 per cent from the previous week and the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 432,400 pieces were mainly for China (144,400 pieces) and South Korea (108,000 pieces).    

Net sales of 63,500 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 57 per cent below the prior week’s level and 43 per cent under the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (21,200 unsplit), Taiwan (11,500 unsplit), and China (8,400 unsplit).  Exports of 115,900 hides were 37 per cent below the previous week and 11 percent under the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (32,500 unsplit), Italy (20,400 unsplit and 600 grain split), Taiwan (18,400 unsplit), and China (17,200 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totaling 1,357,000 pounds were down 4 percent from the previous week and 1 per cent from the prior 4-week average.  The major buyers were Italy (528,000 pounds), Hong Kong (348,000 pounds), and Mexico (302,000 pounds).  Exports of 1,558,100 pounds were 1 per cent less than the previous week and 6 per cent lower than the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (699,000 pounds), Mexico (590,900 pounds), and Italy (135,000 pounds).
