US export sales for week ending 15/07/2004
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 395,100 pieces were 6 percent above the previous week, but 17 percent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 392,100 pieces were primarily for South Korea (166,900 pieces) and China (64,400 pieces). Exports of 499,300 pieces were up 11 percent from the previous week, but down 3 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 491,100 pieces were mainly for South Korea (184,900 pieces) and China (130,200 pieces).
Net sales of 142,600 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 53 percent above the previous week and 38 percent more than the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (34,700 unsplit), Hong Kong (29,700 unsplit), Italy (27,000 unsplit), and Taiwan (14,200 unsplit). Exports of 139,700 hides were over two times the previous week and three-tenths above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (51,900 unsplit), China (24,700 unsplit), Taiwan (22,100 unsplit and 1,400 grain split), and Italy (20,700 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 1,622,600 pounds were 9 percent above the previous week, but 21 percent below the prior 4-week average. The major buyers were Italy (978,000 pounds), Mexico (553,000 pounds), and South Korea (90,000 pounds). Exports of 1,496,300 pounds were up 83 percent from the previous week, but down 14 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (600,800 pounds) and Hong Kong (538,900 pounds).
