Hides and Skins: Net sales of 449,400 pieces were 55 percent above the previous week, but 6 percent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 408,900 pieces were primarily for South Korea (131,700 pieces) and China (83,500 pieces). Exports of 552,100 pieces were up 33 percent from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 536,900 pieces were mainly for China (235,900 pieces), South Korea (162,100 pieces), and Taiwan (46,700 pieces).
Net sales of 167,100 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 4 percent lower than the previous week, but 50 percent above the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (108,000 unsplit and 400 grain split), China (29,800 unsplit), and Hong Kong (11,100 unsplit and 5,400 grain split). Exports of 160,300 hides were 90 percent higher than the previous week and 55 percent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (50,700 unsplit and 7,700 grain split), Italy (39,300 unsplit and 100 grain split), China (18,700 unsplit), and Taiwan (16,300 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 2,465,200 pounds were more than three times the previous week and 54 percent above the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (1,456,000 pounds) and China (473,000 pounds). Exports of 1,582,600 pounds were two and nine-tenths times the previous week and 31 percent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (851,600 pounds), Mexico (299,400 pounds), and Italy (265,500 pounds).
