US export sales for week ending 20/05/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 721,600 pieces were 50% above the previous week and 23% over the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 668,000 pieces were primarily for South Korea (247,200 pieces), China (164,200 pieces), and Taiwan (70,900 pieces).  Exports of 625,500 pieces were up 48% from the previous week and 24% from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 571,200 pieces were mainly for China (195,400 pieces), South Korea (175,800 pieces), and Hong Kong (61,100 pieces). 

 

Net sales of 32,900 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 81% below the previous week and 71% under the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Taiwan (11,000 unsplit), Mexico (6,200 grain split and 4,000 unsplit), and Thailand (9,200 unsplit).  Exports of 113,500 hides were 19% above the previous week and 12% more than the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (36,700 unsplit), Italy (24,100 unsplit), and Taiwan (12,100 unsplit and 4,000 grain split).  Net sales of splits totalling 2,795,900 pounds were two and four-fifths times the previous week and 39% higher than the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyer was Hong Kong (2,389,900 pounds).  Exports of 1,072,200 pounds were down 38% from the previous week and 34% from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (648,800 pounds), Italy (173,000 pounds), and Mexico (168,500 pounds).
