US export sales for week ending 22/04/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 502,900 pieces were 14% over the previous week, but 10% lower than the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 481,600 pieces were primarily for China (157,200 pieces), South Korea (125,700 pieces), and Hong Kong (70,600 pieces).  Exports of 439,100 pieces were up 8% from the previous week, but down 13% from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 419,000 pieces were mainly for China (142,400 pieces), South Korea (129,700 pieces), and Hong Kong (49,600 pieces). 

 

Net sales of 107,300 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 29% below the previous week and 18% under the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Italy (64,600 unsplit and 2,000 grain split), and China (10,000 unsplit).  Exports of 121,100 hides were 35% above the previous week and 12% over the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were South Korea (24,200 unsplit and 5,200 grain split), Hong Kong (23,800 unsplit), China (22,100 unsplit and 100 grain split), and Italy (18,000 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totalling 2,466,100 pounds rebounded from the prior week’s low level.  The primary buyers were China (1,171,200 pounds) and Hong Kong (854,900 pounds).  Exports of 1,548,100 pounds were 5% above the previous week and 21% over the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Italy (482,800 pounds), Hong Kong (467,100 pounds), Mexico (370,300 pounds), and China (227,900 pounds).
