Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 441,000 pieces were 43 percent below the previous week and 22 percent lower than the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 398,700 pieces were primarily for China (148,200 pieces) and South Korea (119,100 pieces).  Exports of 407,400 pieces were down 39 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 374,300 pieces were mainly for South Korea (126,200 pieces) and China (107,200 pieces).

 

Net sales of 151,400 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 3 percent below the previous week, but 17 percent above the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (55,200 unsplit), South Korea (28,600 unsplit and 6,000 grain split), Taiwan (16,500 grain split and 11,100 unsplit), and China (23,000 unsplit and 3,700 grain split).  Exports of 89,700 hides were 49 percent below the previous week and 21 percent under the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (27,600 unsplit and 3,200 grain split), China (17,800 unsplit), and Italy (15,200 unsplit).  Net sales reductions of splits totalling 1,187,900 pounds resulted as increases for Mexico (470,000 pounds) and China (94,900 pounds) were more than offset by decreases for South Korea (1,704,000 pounds) and Hong Kong (48,700 pounds).  Exports of 1,468,700 pounds were 44 percent above the previous week and 21 percent over the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Italy (575,800 pounds), China (355,800 pounds), Hong Kong (332,200 pounds), and Mexico (205,000 pounds).
