US export sales for week ending 01/04/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 499,800 pieces were 4 percent below the previous week, but 2 percent above the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 492,300 pieces were primarily for China (156,900 pieces), South Korea (145,600 pieces), and Hong Kong (63,400 pieces).  Exports of 474,900 pieces were 2 percent above the previous week and 14 percent over the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 468,500 pieces were mainly for South Korea (160,500 pieces) and China (157,900 pieces).  

 

Net sales of 109,000 wet blues (mainly unsplit) equalled the previous week and the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (55,600 unsplit and 8,900 grain split), Thailand (23,000 unsplit), and Indonesia (10,800 unsplit).  Exports of 55,700 hides were down one-half from the previous week and 48 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destination was Hong Kong (30,300 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totalling 318,500 pounds were down 83 percent from the prior week and 79 percent from the previous 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (146,900 pounds) and Italy (131,600 pounds).  Exports of 1,375,900 pounds were 9 percent above the previous week, but 22 percent under the prior 4-week average.  The main destinations were Hong Kong (478,100 pounds), Italy (341,600 pounds), and China (338,500 pounds).
