US export sales for week ending 11/03/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 439,200 pieces were 18 percent below the previous week and 30 percent under the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 409,800 pieces were primarily for China (153,900 pieces) and South Korea (147,300 pieces).  Exports of 407,600 pieces were 6 percent over the previous week, but 13 percent lower than the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 389,000 pieces were mainly for China (141,300 pieces) and South Korea (104,100 pieces).  

 

Net sales of 105,400 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were up 37 percent from the previous week, but down 9 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (61,000 unsplit), Italy (17,000 unsplit and 5,700 grain split), and Thailand (12,300 unsplit).  Exports of 119,400 hides were 33 percent above the previous week and 35 percent over the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (46,100 unsplit), Italy (18,900 unsplit), South Korea (14,700 unsplit and 1,000 grain split), and China (14,700 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totalling 1,589,700 pounds were 14 percent above the prior week and 46 percent over the previous 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Italy (1,250,000 pounds) and Hong Kong (246,300 pounds).  Exports of 868,300 pounds--a marketing-year low--were 77 percent below the previous week and 63 percent under the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (287,300 pounds), Italy (267,500 pounds), Mexico (126,600 pounds), and China (97,200 pounds).
