Hides and Skins: Net sales of 658,800 pieces were 26 percent below the previous week, but 39 percent higher than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 634,300 pieces were primarily for China (238,100 pieces) and South Korea (220,000 pieces, including late reporting of 96,100 pieces). Exports of 531,900 pieces were 15 percent under the previous week, but 30 percent above the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 514,500 pieces were mainly for South Korea (229,100 pieces, including late reporting of 96,100 pieces) and China (151,600 pieces).
Net sales of 149,000 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 60 percent above the previous week and the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were South Korea (46,300 unsplit), Italy (31,200 unsplit and 1,600 grain split), Hong Kong (28,000 unsplit), Mexico (10,000 unsplit and 5,400 grain split) and China (13,000 unsplit). Exports of 92,100 hides were up 2 percent from the previous week and 16 percent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (31,100 unsplit), Thailand (11,900 grain split and 6,100 unsplit), Italy (14,000 unsplit), and Taiwan (10,100 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 1,183,200 pounds improved from the prior week’s level and were 81 percent above the previous 4-week average. The primary buyers were Mexico (494,000 pounds) and Hong Kong (492,300 pounds). Exports of 2,401,700 pounds were 61 percent above the previous week and 54 percent higher than the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (795,100 pounds), Hong Kong (768,900 pounds), China (308,900 pounds), Taiwan (239,400 pounds), and Italy (220,000 pounds).
