US export sales for week ending 12/02/04

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 426,600 pieces were up 32 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 413,600 pieces were primarily for China (129,700 pieces) and South Korea (113,300 pieces).  Exports of 337,400 pieces were 3 percent above the previous week, but 15 percent under the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 319,800 pieces were mainly for South Korea (122,400 pieces) and China (94,900 pieces). 

 

Net sales of 146,100 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 65 percent above the previous week and 79 percent over the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (36,600 unsplit and 700 grain split), China (31,000 unsplit), Taiwan (29,000 unsplit), and Thailand (19,200 unsplit and 2,000 grain split).  Exports of 82,300 hides were up 15 percent from the previous week and 7 percent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (19,700 unsplit and 3,900 grain split), Taiwan (15,300 unsplit), South Korea (15,200 unsplit), and China (13,500 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totalling 1,565,500 pounds doubled the prior week’s level, but were 16 percent below the previous 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (786,000 pounds) and China (688,700 pounds).  Exports of 1,726,900 pounds were 9 percent below the previous week and equaled the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Italy (430,100 pounds), Mexico (342,400 pounds), Hong Kong (335,900 pounds), and Taiwan (231,400 pounds).
