The number of cattle slaughtered in November 2003 was 4.3% lower than in November 2002.
A comparison of November 2003 and 2002 figures shows that sheep slaughterings decreased by 23.7% and pig slaughterings decreased by 13.3%.
The number of sheep slaughterings in January-November 2003 was 4.3% lower than the corresponding 2002 figure. Over the same period there was an increase of 4.4% in the number of cattle slaughterings, while pig slaughterings decreased by 7.9%.
EU cattle slaughterings between the periods January to August 2002 and 2003 decreased by 2.6%.
