US export sales for week ending 20/11/03

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 577,000 pieces were up 49% from the previous week and 23% from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 527,500 pieces were primarily for South Korea (266,900 pieces) and China (142,100 pieces).  Decreases were reported for Mexico (46,800 pieces).  Exports of 692,700 pieces were 96% above the prior week and 29% over the previous 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 631,200 pieces were mainly for South Korea (319,700 pieces) and China (131,700 pieces).  

 

Net sales of 40,400 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 51% below the prior week and 47% under the previous 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (21,500 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (8,800 unsplit), and Mexico (4,800 grain spilt and 100 unsplit).  Exports of 69,100 hides were down 25% from the previous week and the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (22,700 unsplit and 1,800 grain split), Taiwan (11,400 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (4,500 unsplit and 3,400 grain split), and Italy (7,500 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totalling 2,847,500 pounds were 4% more than the previous week and 89% above the prior 4-week average.  The principal buyers were Hong Kong (1,590,000 pounds), Mexico (788,000 pounds), China (334,800 pounds), and South Korea (145,000 pounds).  Exports of 2,317,500 pounds were 22% above the previous week and 62% over the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (1,212,100 pounds), Italy (349,200 pounds), Taiwan (238,500 pounds), and Mexico (199,900 pounds).
