US export sales for week ending 30/10/03

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 532,500 pieces were up 30 percent from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 488,100 pieces were primarily for South Korea (290,000 pieces) and China (82,000 pieces).  Exports of 617,000 pieces were up 1 percent from the week earlier and 32 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 578,500 pieces were mainly for South Korea (235,500 pieces), China (136,800 pieces), and Taiwan (52,100 pieces).

 

Net sales of 56,000 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 56 percent below the prior week and 38 percent under the previous 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Mexico (12,800 unsplit and 9,600 grain split), Hong Kong (16,900 unsplit and 4,500 grain split), and the Dominican Republic (5,600 unsplit).  Exports of 110,400 hides were 40 percent above the previous week and 57 percent more than the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were South Korea (19,300 unsplit and 5,600 grain split), Hong Kong (20,100 unsplit and 4,500 grain split), Italy (18,200 unsplit), and Taiwan (13,100 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totalling 970,400 pounds were 55 percent below the prior week and 41 percent less than the previous 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Italy (300,000 pounds), Colombia (252,000 pounds), China (225,000 pounds), and Hong Kong (194,400 pounds).  Exports of 1,225,100 pounds were 5 percent over the previous week, but down 42 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The main destinations were Mexico (379,500 pounds), Hong Kong (315,500 pounds), and Italy (217,600 pounds).
