US export sales for week ending 09/10/03

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 570,500 pieces were up 4 percent from the previous week and 2 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 563,300 pieces were primarily for China (270,700 pieces) and South Korea (128,300 pieces).  Exports of 387,600 pieces were down 2 percent from the week earlier and 28 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 379,700 pieces were mainly for China (109,500 pieces), South Korea (99,800 pieces), and Hong Kong (51,100 pieces). 

 

Net sales of 65,300 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 32 percent below the prior week and 26 percent under the previous 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (16,500 unsplit), Taiwan (16,500 unsplit), and Mexico (8,400 grain split and 5,100 unsplit).  Exports of 63,700 hides were 13 percent below the previous week and 25 percent under the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (22,300 unsplit and 1,800 grain split), Mexico (8,800 grain split and 5,000 unsplit), and Italy (8,800 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totalling 3,141,200 pounds improved from the prior week’s level.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (1,536,500 pounds), Mexico (1,032,600 pounds), and South Korea (476,000 pounds).  Exports of 2,165,500 pounds were 34 percent below the previous week, but 31 percent above the previous 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (1,293,900 pounds), Italy (351,800 pounds), and Mexico (331,600 pounds).
