Exports of 395,700 pieces were down 24 percent from the week earlier and 33 percent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 389,600 pieces were mainly for China (140,500 pieces), South Korea (99,500 pieces), Taiwan (34,600 pieces), and Japan (34,400 pieces).
Net sales of 95,500 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 43 percent below the prior week, but 34 percent above the previous 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (37,600 unsplit), Italy (22,700 unsplit), Mexico (10,000 unsplit and 5,100 grain split), and Taiwan (6,300 unsplit and 1,800 grain split). Exports of 73,000 hides were down 9 percent from the previous week and 32 percent below the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (21,900 unsplit), Italy (18,300 unsplit and 700 grain split), Mexico (6,700 grain split and 3,000 unsplit), and Taiwan (7,200 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 253,000 pounds were 94 percent below the previous week and 74 percent under the prior 4-week average. Major increases for Mexico (467,300 pounds) and China (463,700 pounds) were partially offset by net decreases for Hong Kong (497,500 pounds) and Italy (308,800 pounds). Exports of 3,291,100 pounds improved from the previous week’s low level and were two and three-quarters times the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (1,542,100 pounds), Italy (709,000 pounds), Mexico (557,300 pounds), and China (343,300 pounds).
