Whole cattle hide sales of 468,600 pieces were primarily for Taiwan (114,600 pieces), South Korea (108,900 pieces), Hong Kong (79,600 pieces), Italy (52,800 pieces), and Japan (48,800 pieces). Exports of 522,200 pieces were up 5 percent from the week earlier, but down 6 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 499,900 pieces were mainly for China (168,300 pieces), South Korea (121,500 pieces), Hong Kong (61,100 pieces), Japan (50,800 pieces), and Taiwan (47,100 pieces).
Net sales of 166,900 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were two and one-quarter times the prior week and three and one-half times the previous 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (106,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (18,500 unsplit), Thailand (14,200 unsplit), Mexico (6,500 grain split and 5,100 unsplit), South Korea (7,300 grain split), and Taiwan (7,100 unsplit). Exports of 80,200 hides were down 22 percent from the previous week and 24 percent below the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (22,200 unsplit), Taiwan (17,300 unsplit), Hong Kong (15,800 unsplit), and Mexico (5,100 unsplit and 4,900 grain split). Net sales of splits totaling 4,235,900 pounds improved from the previous week’s low level. The principal buyers were Italy (2,250,000 pounds), Taiwan (1,500,000 pounds), and Hong Kong (518,200 pounds). Exports of 822,900 pounds were 51 percent below the prior week and 43 percent under the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (322,200 pounds), China (191,700 pounds), and Italy (135,000 pounds).
