US export sales for week ending 10/10/2002
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 418,200 pieces were 7% below the prior week and 10% under the 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 411,800 pieces were primarily for South Korea (148,700 pieces), China (88,300 pieces), and Japan (51,900 pieces). Exports of 273,300 pieces were down 40 percent from the previous week and 47%from the 4-week average. Whole cattle hide shipments of 269,300 pieces were destined mainly for South Korea (103,800 pieces) and Taiwan (31,400 pieces).
Net sales of 48,000 wet blues were up 66% from the previous week, but down 37% from the 4-week average. The primary buyers were Mexico (16,000 unsplit and 5,000 grain split), the Dominican Republic (8,100 grain split and 4,000 unsplit), and Taiwan (9,900 grain split and 100 unsplit). Exports of 74,900 hides were 27% over the previous week, but 23% below the 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (19,100 unsplit and 1,400 grain split), Italy (17,000 unsplit and 1,400 grain split), and South Korea (11,200 grain split and 2,600 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 1,034,900 pounds were 3% over the previous week and 10% over the 4-week average. The primary buyers were South Korea (363,000 pounds), Mexico (279,900 pounds), and Colombia (252,000 pound). Exports of 823,900 pounds were up 6% from the previous week, but down 11% from the 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (323,900 pounds), Italy (300,000 pounds), and Hong Kong (100,000 pounds).
