For the period ending May 28 there were exports from the US of 243,000 whole cattle hides. The destinations were primarily China (119,200 pieces), Mexico (54,800 pieces) and Brazil (30,300 pieces).

There were also exports of 108,800 wet blue hides. The destinations in this case were primarily Vietnam (39,700), Thailand (28,500), Italy (16,100) and China (11,200).

The most recent reports on hide prices have shown heavy Texas steers weighing 60-62 pounds up slightly at $11.50 per piece. Cow hide prices had northern dairy cows at $8.50, south-west dairy cows at $8, northern branded cows at $2 and south-west branded cows at $1.50, with weights of 50-52 pounds in each case.
