Sales of cured cattle hides for the period ending May 23 were 467,600 pieces. The figure for exports of wet blue was 131,200 pieces.
The most recent reports on hide prices showed levels of $26 for butt-branded steers weighing 60-62 pounds and, more recently, $17 for heavy Texas steers, also weighing 60-62 pounds.
Cow hide prices fell again to $15.50 for northern dairy cows, $15 for south-west dairy cows, $7.50 for northern branded cows and $7 for south-west branded cows, with weights of 50-52 pounds in each case.
