Sales of cured cattle hides for the period ending May 9 were 417,500 pieces. The figure for exports of wet blue was 136,900 pieces.
The most recent reports on hide prices showed levels of $27 for butt-branded steers weighing 62-64 pounds, then $21 for Colorado branded steers and $17 for heavy Texas steers weighing 60-62 pounds.
Cow hide prices fell to $16 for northern dairy cows, $15.50 for south-west dairy cows, $8 for northern branded cows and $7.50 for south-west branded cows, with weights of 50-52 pounds in each case.
