Sales of cured cattle hides for the period ending February 15 were 435,800 pieces. The figure for exports of wet blue was 485,100 pieces.
The most recent reports on hide prices showed levels of $30 for butt-branded steers weighing 64-66 pounds and $18 for heavy Texas steers with weights of 60-62 pounds. Heifer hides weighing 52-54 pounds were also $18.
Otherwise, cow hide prices were unchanged at $17 for northern dairy cows, $16.50 for south-west dairy cows, $9.50 for northern branded cows and $8.50 for south-west branded cows, with weights of 50-52 pounds in each case.
