Sales of cured cattle hides for the period ending August 24 were 174,200 pieces. The figure for exports of wet blue was 58,000 pieces.

The most recent reports on hide prices have shown levels of $20 for heavy Texas steers, with weights of 60-62 pounds. The most recent prices for cowhides were unchanged at $14.50 for northern dairy cows, $14 for southwest dairy cows, $8.50 for branded northern cows and $8 for branded southwestern cows. Cow hide weights in each case were 50-52 pounds.
