Sales of cured cattle hides for the period ending August 10 were 363,800 pieces. The figure for exports of wet blue was 46,500 pieces.
The most recent reports on hide prices have shown levels of $33 or $34 for butt-branded steers, of $26.50 for Colorado branded steers and of $21 for heavy Texas steers, with weights of 60-62 pounds in each case. The most recent prices for cowhides were unchanged at $14.50 for northern dairy cows, $14 for southwest dairy cows, $8.50 for branded northern cows and $8 for branded southwestern cows. Cow hide weights in each case were 50-52 pounds.
