Sales of cured cattle hides for the period ending May 5 were 598,400 pieces. The figure for exports of wet blue was 56,800 pieces.
The most recent hide prices show $30 for butt-branded steers weighing 62-64 pounds, $25 for Colorado-branded steers weighing 62-64 pounds and $18 for heavy Texas steers weighing 60-62. The most recent prices for cowhides were unchanged, with levels of $15 for northern dairy cows, $14 for southwest dairy cows, $8 for branded northern cows and $7.50 for branded southwestern cows. Cow hide weights in each case were 52-54 pounds.
