Sales of cured cattle hides for the period ending December 29 were 104,100 pieces. The figure for exports of wet blue was 109,800 pieces.
The most recent hide prices provide prices for four types of steer hide at four price points, with prices at $32 for heavy native steers weighing 60-62 pounds, $30 for butt-branded steers weighing 66-68 pounds, $24 for branded steers of the same weight and $19 for heavy Texas steers of 60-62 pounds. New prices for cow hides have been slow to emerge in the new year. The most recent show levels of $13 for northern dairy cows, $12 for southwest dairy cows, $8 for northern branded cows and $7 for southwest branded cows. Cow hide weights in each case were 50-52 pounds.
