08/12/2020

Sales of cured cattle hides for the period ending November 26 were of 267,400 pieces, a decline of 27% compared to the week before. In contrast, the volume of wet blue hides sold was noticeably up on the previous week, with a figure of 223,800, an increase of more than 900%.

Almost all of the wet blue hides were sold to tanners in Vietnam, China and Brazil.

The most recent steer hide prices ranged from $38.50 for a heavy native steer hide weighing 62 to 64 pounds, to $37 for a butt-branded steer hide of the same weight. For cow hides, prices were $21 or $22 for dairy cow hides weighing 50 to 52 pounds.
