US export sales for week ending 12/30/2010

Hides and Skins: Net sales of 124,000 pieces for delivery in 2010 were down 12% from the previous week and 72% from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hides sales of 124,200 pieces—a marketing-year low—were mainly for China (74,700 pieces), South Korea (42,400 pieces), Taiwan (7,200 pieces), and Hong Kong (4,800 pieces). Net sales of 156,400 pieces for delivery in 2011 were mainly for China (66,900 pieces), South Korea (50,300 pieces), and India (10,300 pieces). Exports of 397,900 pieces were up 2% from the previous week, but down 20% from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hides exports of 389,500 pieces were primarily to China (159,600 pieces), South Korea (99,300 pieces), Taiwan (39,100 pieces), and Hong Kong (28,800 pieces).

Wet Blue: Net sales of 9,700 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were down 31% from the previous week and 89% from the prior four-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (4,900 unsplit), China (3,600 unsplit and 1,300 grain splits), and Mexico (1,300 grain splits and 900 unsplit). Decreases were reported for Japan (2,000 grain splits) and South Korea (200 unsplit). Net sales of 29,900 wet blues for delivery in 2011 were mainly reported for China (22,400 unsplit), Hong Kong (4,800 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (4,100 unsplit). Decreases were reported for Italy (4,900 unsplit). Exports of 86,600 hides—a marketing-year low—were primarily to China (25,900 unsplit and 1,300 grain splits), Italy (25,000 unsplit), Mexico (9,500 grain splits and 2,100 unsplit), and South Korea (7,100 grain splits and 2,200 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 759,300 pounds for delivery in 2010 were for China (411,000 pounds) and South Korea (348,300 pounds). Net sales splits totaling 876,900 pounds for delivery in 2011 were mainly for South Korea (874,700 pounds). Exports of 972,400 pounds were for China (499,000 pounds), South Korea (429,400 pounds), and Spain (44,000 pounds).
