Hides and Skins: Net sales of 701,300 pieces were reported for delivery in 2010, up noticeably from the previous week and 67 percent from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 700,000 pieces--a marketing-year high--were mainly for South Korea (272,400 pieces), China (180,400 pieces), Hong Kong (82,300 pieces, including 6,300 pieces switched from Japan and 4,200 pieces switched from China), Taiwan (58,000 pieces) and Mexico (28,400 pieces). Exports of 525,000 pieces were up 22 percent from the previous week and six percent from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 518,200 pieces were primarily to China (208,200 pieces), South Korea (89,400 pieces), Taiwan (71,900 pieces), Hong Kong (41,400 pieces) and Mexico (29,400 pieces).

Net sales of 57,400 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were down 69 percent from the previous week and 58 percent from the prior four-week average. The primary buyers were China (23,000 unsplit), Thailand (13,600 unsplit), Vietnam (9,600 unsplit) and Mexico (6,300 grain splits). Exports of 117,900 hides were primarily for China (50,300 unsplit), Italy (24,000 unsplit), Mexico (9,100 grain splits and 4,200 unsplit) and Taiwan (9,000 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 101,500 pounds were for China (99,500 pounds) and Indonesia (2,000 pounds). Exports of 85,300 pounds were to China.
