Hides and Skins: Net sales of 440,600 pieces were reported for delivery in 2010, down five percent from the previous week and from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 440,600 pieces were mainly for China (237,100 pieces), South Korea (79,200 pieces), Hong Kong (34,100 pieces), Mexico (24,800 pieces) and Japan (16,600 pieces). Exports of 557,100 pieces were up 24 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 551,100 pieces were primarily to China (226,700 pieces), South Korea (149,500 pieces), Taiwan (48,300 pieces), Hong Kong (30,200 pieces) and Thailand (23,400 pieces). 

Net sales of 172,400 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were up 69 percent from the previous week and 80 percent from the prior four-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (68,000 unsplit), China (50,100 unsplit) and Thailand (26,400 unsplit). Exports of 137,200 hides were primarily for China (62,000 unsplit), Italy (14,700 unsplit and 7,400 grain splits), Thailand (7,000 unsplit) and the Dominican Republic (6,500 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 864,000 pounds reported for Hong Kong (896,900 pounds) and Italy (4,800 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for South Korea (22,200 pounds), Vietnam (13,000 pounds), China (1,500 pounds) and Indonesia (900 pounds). Exports of 1,860,100 pounds--a marketing-year high--were mainly for Hong Kong (946,900 pounds) and South Korea (444,500 pounds).
