Hides and Skins: Net sales of 492,500 pieces were reported for delivery in 2010, up 4 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 488,100 pieces were mainly for China (242,400 pieces), South Korea (52,000 pieces), Taiwan (47,100 pieces), Hong Kong (41,000 pieces), and Vietnam (22,000 pieces). Exports of 538,100 pieces were up 13 percent from the previous week and 14 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 534,000 pieces were primarily to China (245,800 pieces), South Korea (119,600 pieces), Taiwan (42,500 pieces), Hong Kong (38,900 pieces), and Mexico (23,200 pieces).
Net sales of 81,900 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were down 15 percent from the previous week and 41 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were the Dominican Republic (26,400 unsplit), China (18,800 unsplit), Italy (10,000 unsplit), and Japan (9,000 unsplit). Exports of 136,000 hides were primarily for China (58,900 unsplit), Mexico (15,400 grain splits and 4,800 unsplit), Italy (10,100 unsplit and 5,500 grain splits), South Korea (5,500 grain splits and 4,500 unsplit), Thailand (8,100 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (7,800 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 67,900 pounds were reported mainly for Hong Kong (94,000 pounds), Vietnam (5,600 pounds), and South Korea (3,300 pounds). Decreases were reported for China (38,100 pounds). Exports of 1,149,000 pounds were mainly for China (642,900 pounds) and South Korea (376,900 pounds).
