Hides and Skins: Net sales of 545,000 pieces were reported for delivery in 2010, up 49 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 522,400 pieces were mainly for China (211,600 pieces), South Korea (142,700 pieces), Taiwan (66,200 pieces), Vietnam (34,200 pieces) and Canada (28,300 pieces). Exports of 474,400 pieces were up 30 percent from the previous week and seven percent from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 473,100 pieces were primarily to China (189,900 pieces), South Korea (142,500 pieces), Taiwan (34,200 pieces), Thailand (27,200 pieces), Hong Kong (19,100 pieces) and Mexico (17,100 pieces).

Net sales of 109,200 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were down 49 percent from the previous week and 32 percent from the prior four-week average. The primary buyers were China (61,300 unsplit and 100 grain splits), Taiwan (12,900 unsplit), Mexico (12,700 grain splits and 100 unsplit) and Vietnam (7,800 unsplit). Exports of 174,900 hides were primarily for China (69,500 unsplit and 3,100 grain splits), Italy (36,800 unsplit and 1,900 grain splits), Mexico (15,100 grain splits and 6,600 unsplit) and Japan (7,400 grain splits and 4,600 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 1,959,100 pounds--a marketing-year high--were primarily for China (1,810,400 pounds) and Hong Kong (244,400 pounds). Decreases were reported for Indonesia (100,000 pounds). Exports of 443,800 pounds were for China (220,000 pounds), South Korea (173,800 pounds) and Hong Kong (50,000 pounds).
