Net sales of 432,000 pieces were reported for delivery in 2010, up 52 percent from the previous week. Whole cattle hide sales of 429,500 pieces were primarily for China (182,500 pieces), South Korea (97,300 pieces), Taiwan (68,600 pieces), Hong Kong (42,400 pieces), and Mexico (17,200 pieces). Exports of 379,900 pieces were down 11 percent from the previous week. Whole cattle hide exports of 371,900 pieces were primarily to China (168,300 pieces), South Korea (105,300 pieces), Taiwan (29,400 pieces), Mexico (18,500 pieces), Thailand (16,900 pieces), and Hong Kong (10,500 pieces).
Net sales of 127,800 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were up noticeably from the previous week. The primary buyers were China (36,500 unsplit and 15,800 grain splits), Vietnam (34,600 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (26,400 unsplit), and Mexico (24,000 grain splits and 100 unsplit). Decreases were reported for Hong Kong (6,200 grain splits), Japan (3,600 unsplit and 1,400 grain splits), and Brazil (1,400 unsplit). Exports of 131,200 hides were primarily for China (39,300 unsplit and 6,400 grain splits), Italy (26,200 unsplit), Mexico (19,200 grain splits and 1,700 unsplit), Vietnam (14,600 unsplit), and Thailand (9,200 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 737,800 pounds resulted as increases for China (836,100 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for Italy (68,400 pounds) and South Korea (29,900 pounds). Exports of 229,000 pounds were for South Korea (129,000 pounds), Taiwan (50,000 pounds), and Hong Kong (50,000 pounds).
