Hides and Skins: Net sales of 139,200 pieces were down 69 percent from the previous week and 71 percent from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hides sales of 137,900 piece--a marketing-year low--were primarily for China (69,000 pieces), South Korea (28,800 pieces), Thailand (14,900 pieces), Mexico (10,000 pieces) and Japan (4,400 pieces). Decreases were reported for Hong Kong (2,600 pieces). Exports of 398,600 pieces were down 36 percent from the previous week and 20 percent from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 396,000 pieces were primarily to China (221,000 pieces), South Korea (87,400 pieces), Taiwan (19,800 pieces), Mexico (18,700 pieces), Hong Kong (16,900 pieces) and Thailand (16,100 pieces). 

Net sales of 61,800 wet blues were down 60 percent from the previous week and 67 percent from the prior four-week average. The primary buyers were Mexico (21,000 grain splits and 13,000 unsplit), Italy (14,600 unsplit), China (10,300 unsplit) and Vietnam (3,900 unsplit). Decreases were for Taiwan (2,500 unsplit). Net sales of hides for delivery in 2010 were for Taiwan (4,800 unsplit). Exports of 98,800 hides were down 47 percent from the previous week and 32 percent from the prior four-week average. The primary destinations were China (33,000 unsplit and 6,000 grain splits), Mexico (18,100 grain splits and 4,500 unsplit), Italy (16,800 unsplit and 5,400 grain splits) and Vietnam (4,700 unsplit). Net sales reductions of splits totalling 4,300 pounds resulted as increases for Taiwan (43,400 pounds) were more than offset by decreases for South Korea (42,600 pounds) and Hong Kong (5,100 pounds). Exports of 375,700 pounds were up six percent from the previous week, but down three percent from the prior four-week average. The destinations were South Korea (204,800 pounds), Hong Kong (127,500 pounds) and Taiwan (43,400 pounds).
