The number of cattle slaughtered in July 2009 was 1.9% lower than in July 2008.
A comparison of July 2009 and 2008 figures showed that:
- Sheep slaughterings decreased by 5.9%
- Pig slaughterings decreased by 7.8%
The number of cattle slaughterings in January-July 2009 was 6.1% lower than the corresponding 2008 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 6.6% in sheep slaughterings and a decrease of 8.9% in pig slaughterings. Between the periods January to May 2008 and 2009, the
