US Export sales for week ending 05/01/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales for the 2006 marketing year (which began Jan. 1) were 229,400 pieces, including 227,800 pieces of whole cattle hides. The major buyers of whole cattle hides were China (82,400 pieces), South Korea (71,200 pieces), and Mexico (31,500 pieces). Sales of 2,118,500 pieces, including 2,028,300 pieces of whole cattle hides, were outstanding on Dec. 31 and carried over to the 2006 marketing year. Exports of 117,600 pieces - all whole cattle hides - were reported for Dec. 31, with China (59,200 pieces) and South Korea (39,500 pieces) the main destinations. Accumulated exports of hides and skins were 26,469,400 pieces, up 6 per cent from the prior year’s total of 25,024,400 pieces. Exports for Jan. 1-5 were 291,900 pieces, including 288,000 pieces of whole cattle hides, with China (118,700 pieces) and South Korea (93,100 pieces) the primary destinations.
