South Africa leather school to move to Northampton
Founder of the International School of Tanning Technology (ISTT), Dr Clive Jackson-Moss, has confirmed the sale of the business. As a result, the school will move from Grahamstown, South Africa, to Northampton at the start of 2027.
Dr Jackson-Moss has told South Africa-based industry publication the S&V Newsletter that he has agreed to sell the business to UK-based leather educator, Karl Flowers.
Dr Jackson-Moss said he thought Northampton would be a better location for the school and that Karl Flowers was “much better placed” to grow the business.
Originally from South Africa, Mr Flowers was involved in setting up the school in Grahamstown but has been based in the Northampton area for many years. He was part of the team at the University of Northampton’s Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT) from 2001 until 2016, when he left to set up a training and consultancy business. ICLT closed in 2025.
