29/09/2026

Official reports from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in mid-September suggest that 281,200 whole cattle hides shipped to customers overseas in the period from Friday, September 11 to Thursday, September 17, 2026. Of these, 179,100 pieces went to China, more than 60% of the total. Other important destinations were Mexico, with, officially, 37,600 hides, Thailand with 24,800, South Korea with 14,200 and Italy with 12,200. At the time of writing, these are the most recent dates for which statistics are available. USDA has said this figure is up by 7% compared to the number it collated for the previous week. The earlier figure was 262,200 hides. USDA also calculates a four-week average for whole cattle hide shipments, putting it at 251,071. This means the most recent figure is 12% up on the average.
