Hides missing from 30-FOR-30 lists
Following the state visit to the US by China’s president, Xi Jinping, the two countries have agreed to discuss reduced tariffs on the import and export of certain products.
Their aim is to reach agreement on applying lower tariffs to different lists of products, but for both lists to be worth around $30 billion. They have called the agreement ‘30-FOR-30’.
Some cattle-related products, including beef, are included in the recommended products on China’s 30-FOR-30 imports from the US. However, cattle hides are not on the list.
President Trump of the US and President Xi of China announced a new US-China Board of Trade during meetings in Beijing in May.
Both sides have now announced next steps for this body, including its mission, composition, leadership, responsibilities and future meeting schedules.
