Egypt can offer supply chain resilience, ministry says
A representative of Egypt’s industry ministry, Ahmed Maghawry, has said the leather industry represents a good example of how well industrial ties between his country and Italy are working.
Speaking at the Simac Tanning Tech exhibition in Milan in September, Dr Maghawry said the Robbiki leather manufacturing hub, which is 60 kilometres from the centre of Cairo, was one of the fruits of the relationship between the two countries.
He said he hoped the sharing of expertise between them would continue.
“Egypt wants to increase output and also productivity,” he told visitors and exhibitors at the Milan events. “We want to move into higher-value production and to get into international markets.”
He argued that international companies should look to do business with Egypt, offering that the African country can offer them everything they need to achieve growth.
“The world is changing,” Dr Maghawry concluded. “The resilience of supply chains is becoming more and more important. Egypt guarantees a resilient supply chain that is also sustainable.”
