China Fashion Industry Promotion Alliance formed

During an October meeting in Guangzhou, bodies including the China National Textile and Apparel Council, China General Chamber of Commerce, China Leather Industry Association and China Fashion Association, among others, joined forces to establish the China Fashion Industry Promotion Alliance.  

The Pearl River Delta region, with Guangzhou at its centre, is already key to global clothing distribution, production and sales (one third of China’s clothing producers call the area home). Guangzhou, itself, is one of the largest centres for the production of leathergoods in China and there is a well-established fashion industry presence in the city.  

In December, the city will host the first China (Guangzhou) Fashion Industry Conference, intended to better integrate its local supply chain and fashion industry capabilities. It is also hoped that the event will improve Guangzhou’s “soft power” on the international fashion stage.
