Hermès continues to invest in production capacity
Leathergoods brand Hermès has announced the laying of the foundation stone for their twentieth leathergoods workshop, The Maroquinerie de Louviers (Normandy, France).
It will be the second site for Hermès’ Leathergoods and saddlery division in Normandy and will ultimately create 250 jobs when it opens in 2022. Redeveloping an industrial brownfield location near the city centre, the site will also house a saddlery and bridle making workshop to complement the existing equestrian activity undertaken in Paris.
Since 2010, Hermès has opened nine leathergoods workshops and recruited more than 2,500 artisans, bringing the number of saddler-leatherworkers to more than 3,800. The Maroquinerie de Guyenne (Gironde) and the Maroquinerie de Montereau (Seine-et-Marne) will be inaugurated in 2021, and a new manufacture is scheduled to open in the Ardennes in 2023.
